No, TESDA Online Program (TOP) courses do not have a strict expiration date. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) offers complete autonomy when it comes to completion of the TOP courses, allowing learners to study at their own pace. However, a TOP account can be deleted if it fails to meet certain conditions like activity level or account status. If your account gets deleted due to inactivity, unfinished progress may be lost, but records of completed courses are archived and can be requested from NITESD/eTESDA.
If you’re worried about losing your TOP course progress, don’t be. The course itself does not expire—but your account activity matters. Just make sure you show up and work on it. If life gets busy, that’s okay. Just don’t disappear completely.
Do TOP Courses Expire?

Aside from the flexibility to take and complete your TOP courses from anywhere, anytime, another perk of taking courses via the TOP is this: the courses never expire. You don’t need to worry about deadlines and due dates here. you just need to show up and work towards completion and you’ll get your online Certificate of Completion for sure. But while your courses won’t expire, there are some things you need to pay attention to to avoid losing your progress:
1. There Is No “Finish By” Deadline
TOP courses do not have a built-in expiration date. You can:
- Pause your learning
- Come back later
- Study at your own pace
This is helpful if you’re juggling work, family, or overseas employment. However, learning sooner is always better. TESDA sometimes updates Training Regulations. If industry standards change, older course versions may be archived or replaced.
2. The 5-Year Dormancy Rule
If you do not log in for five years, your account becomes dormant and will be deleted.
If that happens:
- Your unfinished progress will be lost.
- Records of completed courses are archived.
- You can request archived records from NITESD/eTESDA.
- You will be informed two weeks before deletion.
Simple tip: Log in once in a while. Even if you’re not studying, signing in keeps your account active.
3. Unconfirmed Accounts Get Deleted Fast
If you register but don’t confirm your account (usually through email verification), it will be automatically deleted after two days. So after signing up, confirm immediately.

Special Cases: Scholarship-Linked Programs
Now, there are some instances when the TESDA Online Program courses may “expire” because some bundled or scholarship-linked programs may have required completion windows (for example, one year). Make sure to always check the terms if you’re enrolled under a scholarship.
How to Protect Your Progress
If you’re busy, overseas, or taking a break, here’s what you should do to ensure that you won’t lose your TOP account and/or your progress in any unfinished course:
- Log in at least once every few months.
- Confirm your account right after registration.
- Download your Certificate of Completion immediately.
- Save copies of certificates in email and cloud storage.
- Contact NITESD/eTESDA if you need archived records.
